Councillor praises fantastic mix of cultures at community event

A councillor has praised a community event for its cultural diversity.

St Andrews Parish Council chairman, Cllr Jake Chandler, attended the latest Souq or Bazar at Redhouse Community Centre, Swindon, which was organised by ILm Hub.

Cllr Chandler said he enjoyed the "fantastic mix" of cultures, food, and crafts at the gathering.

He also engaged in conversations with stallholders and attendees, noting the event's role in uniting the community.

Cllr Chandler expressed gratitude towards ILm Hub, recognising their efforts to support people within Swindon and foster community spirit.

He said: "These events showcase some of their efforts bringing everyone together, and its always nice to attend."

Cllr Chandler also met Rabia Faroukh, who is currently raising funds for the Indus Hospital & Health Network.

Ms Faroukh is set to compete in an upcoming badminton tournament in support of the hospital network.

The Souq or Bazar event not only highlighted cultural richness in the area but also served as a platform for meaningful interactions and community bonding.

Cllr Chandler's participation in the event, along with St Andrews Daniel Adams, underlined the importance of community engagement and support.
