AN AYR nursing home has been praised by inspectors following a recent visit.
The Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to Bellevue Nursing Home on Racecourse Road earlier this month.
Bellevue is a small family-run nursing home for older people and provides nursing and residential care for up to 20 people.
The home was rated 'very good' for supporting people's wellbeing, and 'good' for its setting.
The watchdog report stated: "The service demonstrated major strengths in supporting people's health and wellbeing.
"Staff were caring and respectful. Staff knew people very well and used this knowledge to provide very good person-centred care. The culture promotes independence and dignity."
One relative told inspectors that "staff continuously assess my relative's condition and needs" and that "we hit the jackpot here".
The report continued: "The home was well presented with no odours present. Review of maintenance records showed a proactive approach to repairs and all required checks were taking place. This helped to keep people safe.
"The bedrooms were personalised, clean and fresh. Shared rooms were clearly divided, had arrangements in place for privacy and reflected the personalities of both people who lived there.
"There were procedures in place to ensure that people's belongings did not get mixed up. This ensured people were respected and treated with dignity.
"The cleaning schedules were robust and effective. There was an ongoing refurbishment and development plan.
"All the en-suite accommodation was modern and easily accessed. There were fresh flowers throughout the home."
