Rosario: Angel Di Maria struck a first-half equalizer as Rosario Central salvaged a 1-1 home draw with Boca Juniors in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday. Rodrigo Battaglia gave the visitors the lead with a glancing header after Brian Aguirre's cross from the right flank.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Di Maria put his side on level terms at El Gigante by curling home directly from a corner. The hosts looked the more likely to break the deadlock in the second half but were denied by a series of sharp saves from goalkeeper Leandro Brey.
"I'm happy with the goal but also because we played a great match," Di Maria told reporters. "I think in general terms that it was an evenly contested match. We're doing a lot of things right and that's reflected by the fact we haven't lost a match yet."
The result leaves Rosario Central sixth in Group B with 11 points from seven outings, while Boca is third in Group A with 13 points. In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Platense won 2-1 at Defensa y Justicia, Tigre was held to a goalless home draw by Talleres Cordoba, Instituto prevailed 2-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors and Union Santa Fe won 3-1 at Gimnasia.
