Nigerians have no reason to suffer resource curse - Catholic priest

The Parish Priest of St. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church, Ijegun, Lagos, Rev. Father Andrew Abhulimen, has reminded economic and political leaders that Nigerians have no reason to suffer resource curse, given the abundant human and natural deposits in the country.

Describing the pains of Nigerians as unfair and undue, the priest who made this known during the annual harvest and bazaar service at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ijagemo, decried the unbearable rate of insecurity and hardship in Nigeria as the level of deprivation in the country assumes alarming rate.

Speaking on the theme: 'Harvest of Divine Protection,' he urged Nigerians in the country to seek divine protection despite physical efforts by Nigerian security personnel to protect life and property, which has yielded little results.

Rev. Abhulimen reminded the judicial arm of government, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other institutions that records of their actions are taken in heaven and on earth, hence the need to be cautious of the kind of decisions they take.

He expressed optimism in the Nigerian project advising Nigerians to shun sentiments and choose credible leaders as 2027 general elections draw near.
