Dominic Hyam joins Wrexham AFC from Blackburn in final deal of historic transfer window

Wrexham AFC say they are "delighted" to confirm the signing of Dominic Hyam from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

The Scottish international defender, 29 - who earned a recall to the national squad for this month's matches against Denmark and Belarus - has signed an initial two-year contract.

Hyam is a double promotion winner with Coventry City, and former Player of the Season with both the Sky Blues and Blackburn. He arrives at Wrexham having made more than 350 career appearances - including spending the last five seasons in the EFL Championship.

On signing for Wrexham, he said: "It's really exciting for me. I'm looking forward to meeting the players and the fans and getting started.

"Speaking to people about Wrexham, and seeing how quickly it has gone from strength to strength, it is so attractive as a player to be a part of that.

"Seeing the success, and how well they have done on the pitch, and how they have strengthened every season, just really attracted me to it. I thought it was a really exciting opportunity."

Hyam started his career with Reading, where he turned pro and enjoyed several loan spells away, before moving to Coventry City upon his release in 2017.

Then in League Two, he helped the Sky Blues to the play-off final - which he played at Wembley as Coventry sealed promotion.

Two years later, Hyam was instrumental to their promotion to the Championship, finishing the 2019/20 season as their Player of the Year. He spent two further seasons in the Championship with

Coventry, before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2022. With Rovers, he made an immediate impression - being named Player of the Season at the end of his first campaign. He has made 135 appearances for Blackburn, scoring four times, and played every minute of last season's EFL Championship campaign as they finished seventh.

Hyam won his first Scotland cap in June 2023, and returned to Steve Clarke's squad for the current

international break.

On his signing, manager Phil Parkinson said: "I'm really pleased to welcome Dominic to the Club.

He's a player with a proven record at Championship level. He's a versatile player who will add real

competition to the squad."
