Amazon Web Services (AWS) crashed, causing dependent services to take a toll, while half the internet flocked to X/Twitter to take stock of the situation. Reportedly AWS suffered an outage at 12:30 pm IST, which was reported within 15 minutes. As major platforms including Snapchat, Perplexity, Canva, Lyft, McDonald's, Coinbase, Venmo, Crunchyroll, Slack's parent Atlassian, Disney+, Medium, and others went down, gaming sites with AWS backup like Roblox, Fortnite, Clash Royale, Supercell, and Clash of Clans, among others, froze.
While people were worried about losing their Snapchat streaks, desis had their hearts pounding as deadlines loomed ahead of Diwali when Canva crashed.
At around 2:30 pm IST, the root cause of the problem was identified by AWS. Several sites are still down. as AWS has yet to update a status on the fix.
Amid all the cacophony, X/Twitter's billionaire boss Elon Musk took a cheeky dig remarking, "š¯•¸, babe, you up?"
