KUALA LUMPUR: For designer Kel Wen, dressing the stage performers at the 47th Asean Summit was more than just a fashion moment.

According to Behati's creative director, it was probably his most challenging project to date, with many lessons learnt along the way.

Behati is a Malaysian contemporary fashion brand founded by Kel Wen in 2018,

"It took over 100 reviews and several approvals within two weeks for the consumers to be fully approved.

"Despite the challenge, my team persevered and said 'Demi Malaysia'. I can't thank the people who made this possible enough," he said in an Instagram post on Tuesday (Oct 28).

Kel Wen described the opportunity to present Behati to world leaders at the summit as an honour.

The performance featured Alena Murang wearing a tribute to Borneo, highlighting the cultures of the Kadazan from Sabah and the Iban from Sarawak.

Kel Wen and his team also dressed the "Hands of Percussion Malaysia" group in Baju Melayu Teluk Asean, complemented by recycled plastic tanjak.

Meanwhile, the dancers, choreographed by Zamzuriah Zahari, wore golden songket and Red Kurung Kelopak Bunga Raya.

The 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits were being held in Kuala Lumpur from Sunday (Oct 26) to Tuesday (Oct 28).
