IU Health Cardiovascular Institute taps 2 leaders  - Becker's Hospital Review | Healthcare News & Analysis

Indianapolis-based Indiana University and IU Health have named Sara Pereira, MD, and Matthew Feinstein, MD, as co-leaders of its Cardiovascular Institute.

Dr. Pereira stepped into her role in August and Dr. Feinstein will join the institute Jan. 12, according to a Sept. 15 news release from the university.

Dr. Pereira also serves as division chief of cardiothoracic surgery and a professor of surgery at the IU School of Medicine.

She previously served as a professor of surgery, program director for the thoracic surgery residency programs and surgical director of the structural heart program at Salt Lake City-based University of Utah, and as vice chair in the surgery department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Feinstein will be chief of the division of cardiovascular medicine, a professor of medicine and the Medtronic Zipes Professor of Cardiology at the IU School of Medicine.

He previously served as the Thomas D. Spies professor of cardiometabolic inflammation, an associate professor of medicine-cardiovascular diseases, preventive medicine and pathology, director of the Clinical and Translational Immunocardiology Program and director of student research at Chicago-based Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
