Luigi Mangione Will Have 2 European Dishes to Choose Between for Dinner in Prison

Luigi Mangione is being served chicken parmesan and a dish called pizza beans among his meal choices in prison, according to reports.

The two meals are listed on the menu for Mangione, 26, at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon in Pennsylvania, where he is currently being held for the accused murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, per CNN and TMZ.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, chicken parmesan, a dish inspired by Italian cuisine, and pizza beans with pasta were being prepared as dinner options according to menus obtained by the outlets. This followed a lunch of Italian sausage or bean paste with potatoes, while breakfast consisted of fruit, cereal, bread, and coffee.

The "Greece and American-style" meal consists of beans cooked with various pizza-flavored ingredients, including crushed tomatoes, a chopped onion, minced garlic, parmesan, and kale leaves, topped off with melted mozzarella and parmesan and served in a large dish.

"When I created this recipe for my second cookbook, Smitten Kitchen Every Day in 2017, I wouldn't have in a million years expected it to land on a prison menu," Perelman told Eater following the reports of Mangione's prison menu.

"I have to make clear that the Smitten Kitchen doesn't condone or endorse murder, however the memes are hilarious," she added.

Pizza beans has risen considerably on Google Search following these latest reports, according to Google Trends.

CNN reported that Mangione is eating his meals in his prison cell which is described as a 15 x 6 foot space including a bed, sink, toilet, and desk. He is "not interacting with his inmates," according to the outlet.

Mangione's meal choices in prison so far have included tacos or bean wrap filling, barbecue chicken or brown rice with vegetables, chicken tetrazzini, a hamburger, porcupine meatball, and mashed potatoes, per TMZ.

Fruit and cereal have been kept as breakfast menu staples, but occasionally swapped with foods such as grits, cinnamon apples, or scrambled eggs.
