Cedar Point's HalloWeekends launches this weekend, extends into November

SANDUSKY, Ohio - Can't get enough of Cedar Point's HalloWeekends in October? Good news - the amusement park's popular Halloween-themed festival will run through early November this year.

The festival kicks off Sept. 12 and will run Thursdays through Sundays through Saturday, Nov. 2.

One exception: The park will not be open Thursday, Oct. 31 (Boo!)

This is the 27th year for HalloWeekends, which features spooky haunted attractions in the evening and family-friendly fun during the day.

The popular event typically draws some of the park's largest crowds of the year.

New in 2024: Midnight's Curse, an adults-only show that promises to "take guests into their darkest nightmares." The show, hosted by Mr. Midnight, features four acts, including acrobatic performances, fire manipulation and high-flying aerialists. Performances take place on Friday and Saturday nights and "are not recommended for children," according to the park.

Other after-dark activities include a mix of 10 indoor and outdoor haunted attractions, including Slaughter House, the Haunting of Eerie Estate and Blood on the Bayou.

During the day, kid-friendly activities include corn and hay mazes, pumpkin decorating, monster makeovers and trick or treating.

Most of the park's rides will be operating, as well.

The entertainment lineup this year includes the return of "Fangs After Dusk," "Butchers of Rock," "The Shrieks," "The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown" and "Wake the Dead."

New this year is the "Skeleton Crew," a set of high-flying skeletons that dance and flip and bounce into the air, accompanied by Skeleton Stilt Walkers.

One notable absence: Midnight Syndicate, the popular Cleveland musical duo that was a regular at HalloWeekends in recent years, will not be performing in 2024.

Fall-focused food items this year include Glazed Gargoyle Chicken Wings tossed with a candy gloss shell, Apple Cider Donut Bundt Cake, Butternut Squash and Prosciutto Pizza and Deep-Fried Cheesecake.

Also new this year: Mr. Midnight's Lantern, an interactive device that will unlock special features inside haunted mazes, during live performances and at other spots in the park. It's $39.99 and available at Point Plaza, Pagoda Gift Shop and other retailers.

Admission: Don't wait until you get to the park to buy admission, which will cost $99. Online tickets are cheaper, ranging from $49.99 (Thursdays and Sundays) to $79.99 (Saturdays).

The park is currently running a $34.99 sale for September admission - but hurry, the sale ends this Friday the 13th.

Hours: HalloWeekends runs 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Information: cedarpoint.com
