Why Oregon Ducks Basketball Five-Star Recruit Likes Coach Dana Altman: Visit Looms

2025 five-star prospect Eric Reibe, the No. 2 overall ranked center according to On3, has moved up his official visits to both Indiana for September 20th-22nd and the Oregon Ducks for October 4th-6th. He recently just went on visits to Creighton, Kansas, UConn and Harvard.

The Ducks had an assistant coach visit Reibe at The Bullis School and his home in Potomac, Maryland recently. This is a recruit that can change the expectations for a season completely around in just his first year and head coach Dana Altman wants him badly. He personally saw Reibe on the first day of the live period.

"Coach (Dana) Altman has done a good job telling me how he wants to use my skill set. I have good connections with Louis Rowe and Coach (Mike) Mennenga. I have developed a good connection with them and good relationships. They haven't really had a player with my size and skill set, so that is kind of new. But they run a five-out offense and they want to use me more as as a four man to stretch the floor and in dribble hand offs and stuff like that."

Other head coaches from major programs like Creighton's Greg McDermott, Indiana's Mike Woodson, Kansas' Bill Self, Dan Hurley's UConn are going hard after the seven-footer and went to see him in Maryland. In fact, Hurley just visited Reibe at his school right after a visit to the White House. That's a pretty cool story to tell a potential recruit who is thinking about coming to join your program.

Reibe is an extremely skilled big man with mobility and touch both inside and out. He can run the floor on offense and back on defense at full speed. With his smooth leftie jumper and ability to stretch the floor out with his shooting touch, Reibe is a scoring threat at all three levels.

He has a high basketball IQ and can box out with the best in the country as his length is a factor on the boards. The combination of height, versatility and skill is why coaches dream of having Reibe on their roster.

Reibe has had a productive couple of summers on the AAU and national circuit the past two years. He showcased his skillset at the PUMA Pro16, the NBAPA Top 100 camp and played with the German U18 FIBA squad in the European Championship.

He doesn't have a commitment date set at the moment but is looking to aim for an early signing period decision. Reibe seems to like the offense with which Altman has implemented and believes it's a strong fit at Oregon.
