A Week in Paris- Part 10 (Notre Dame)

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll already know about the terrible fire that burned up much of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, 15th of April, 2019. The graphic images of the fire on every news report, including the horror of the Parisians who could only watch as the central tower collapsed, will long be imprinted on my mind. As Mr. Macron said, Notre Dame represents the very soul of France, and must be rebuilt at whatever cost. Here are the pictures of the fire...

Consider this post a progress report, and the goal is to have the cathedral reopen on Christmas Eve of this year. People from all over the world have contributed to the fund for the rebuilding, and I wanted to share my pictures of how its going.

The shots above were taken while on the river boat. Here are other shots, which make quite clear there is still much to be done, but at least the central spire is back in place. No one but the workers is allowed in the cathedral, but here are some helpful billboards that describe the process. How's your French?

We were allowed to walk around the perimeter and the picture above and what follows are my own shots as well as the ones above take from the river.

It is my hope and prayer, that the reopening of this historic church, will rekindle the Christian faith in the hearts of many in France, and they will come into the Cathedral at Christmas and thank God and all those restorers for what has been done.
