Collinson leads the way as Thirsk DMC enjoy dry Ouseburn trial

Thirsk DMC hit good weather for their Ouseburn trial at Moor Lane and forty riders enjoyed a four lap, ten section course around this rocky woodland circuit.

Top man of the day was Scarborough's Gary Collinson, well past his first flush of youth but still going strong.

He held off the challenge from Mike Dyson and Arron Sherwin.

Collinson made sure of victory with his consistency over the first seven sections, never losing a mark.

Rob Hardisty won a tough Clubman B class by four marks, Phil Hammond losing ground on the difficult eighth and tenth section.

Nunthorpe's Paul Nixon, the right man for a big bike, heaved the old Ariel thumper around to win the white route by just two marks from photography man Pete Cahill.

Cahill, riding a tidy BSA, lost out on the tricky fifth, losing ten to Nixon's eight.

Credit to the young riders who found it hard going but all gained a finish: Joshua Lane, and Malton's Matthew Lamb the pick of the bunch.

Results:

Clubman A: 1 Gary Collinson (?) 10, 2 Mike Dyson (TRS) 16, 3 Arron Sherwin (Beta) 20.

Clubman B: 1 Rob Hardisty (Beta) 7, Phillip Hammond (TRS) 11, 3 Paul Nelson (Repsol) 15.

White route: 1 Paul Nixon (Ariel) 14, 2 Peter Cahill (BSA) 16, 3 Mike Sanderson (Beta) 25.
