Even more drone firms could move to Swindon as discussions continue

Swindon is being promoted as a key hub for the UK's growing drone industry.

Will Stone, Labour MP for Swindon North, recently met with senior leaders from Epropelled, a company developing motors for drones, to discuss Swindon as the centre of the UK's drone production.

Mr Stone said: "Great to follow up with Epropelled and their CEO Nick and Global Head of Finance to discuss Swindon as the centre of the UK's drone production.

"Epropelled develop world leading motors for Drone's and are working to reduce our dependency on Chinese supply chains in order to develop resilience here at home."

He said he has been highlighting Swindon's fantastic location, the skills of our workforce, and our foremost position as the UK's drone centre.

The meeting came as Tekever is opening a site in the north of the town, which will allow for rapid prototyping of new ideas, the development of new products, and the manufacture of drones, including some larger models.

The site is expected to create hundreds of jobs.

Mr Stone supported Tekever in selecting Swindon, highlighting its strategic location between Bristol and London.

He has also assisted three other drone technology companies in establishing operations in the area, including Stark, Munin Dynamics, and Flyby.
