Netflix's latest true crime series, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, has left viewers questioning the line between fact and fiction, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The series features a host of real-life characters, including Adeline Watkins (portrayed by Suzanna Son), who is shown as Ed Gein's (Charlie Hunnam) girlfriend, Psycho's Norman Bates actor Anthony Perkins (Joey Pollari), and Nazi war criminal Ilse Koch (Vicky Krieps).
Billed as a true crime series, The Ed Gein Story does indeed depict many of the gruesome acts committed by the disturbed, undiagnosed schizophrenic.
The eight-part series also explores the influence of Gein's crimes on Hollywood horror, referencing the creation of Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs.
