Three Injured in Thursday Morning Crash in Sidney

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, the Maine State Police are investigating a crash on the I-95 in Sidney that injured three people.

The press release explains that, at about 8:30 AM on Thursday (August 28th), law enforcement received multiple reports about a white van that was traveling southbound on I-95. The vehicle was reported to be speeding and driving erratically, prompting immediate concern.

Shortly after these reports, the van lost control, crashed into the guardrail, and rolled over at mile marker 118, southbound, in Sidney.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and all three individuals inside the van were transported for medical evaluation.

The driver, along with a juvenile passenger, were taken to Maine General Hospital in Augusta. Both of them were treated for minor injuries and were later released.

However, the third person in the vehicle sustained more serious injuries, although they were not life-threatening. This individual was airlifted by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment.

Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Authorities are working to gather all the necessary details to understand what led to the van's erratic driving behavior and the resulting crash.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law

At this point, they have charged the vehicle's driver, 28-year-old Shawn Stone, of Presque Isle, with several crimes. These include Operating Under the Influence, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Conduct and Aggravated Driving to Endanger.
