Joe Jonas recently announced his plans to release music entirely on his own again. Throughout the years he's been a musical superstar, he's worked with his siblings as one-third of the Jonas Brothers, and he founded the band DNCE. He scored big hits with both acts, but now he's ready to try his hand at being on his own once more. While his most recent solo cuts have underperformed, the pop musician scores a top 10 hit under his own name - and he manages to do so on a highly unlikely Billboard chart.
The middle Jonas brother debuts inside the highest tier on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. He joins singer Ela Talbert on her tune "Como Pasa?," which has become an instant smash on a musical ranking he likely never thought he'd see.
"Como Pasa?" opens at No. 4 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart this week. The tally ranks the bestselling individual tunes in the U.S. every frame that Billboard classifies as Latin, which almost always means that the cut is performed, at least in part, in Spanish.
Unsurprisingly, "Como Pasa?" earns Jonas his first top 10 smash on the Latin sales list. The tune brings him not just to the highest tier on that tally, but to the roster in general for the first time.
Talbert found some success on YouTube, and now she's quickly becoming a star in the Latin music industry as well. She was recently named Best New Artist at the 2024 Latin Grammys, and now she's landed a top 10 hit on a Billboard tally.
Jonas has reached the top 10 on Billboard charts in the past, both with his various groups and on his own. As a soloist, he hasn't managed to crack the loftiest space on any of the company's songs rankings in more than a decade. He last appeared inside the top 10 on any roster in the U.S. in 2011, when his single "Love Slayer" became a quick smash on the Dance Club Songs list.
In July, Jonas kicked off the second chapter of his solo career. He has thus far released one album on his own, 2011's Fastlife, which was a major commercial disappointment. So far this year, he's delivered both "Work It Out" and "What This Could Be," but neither have reached the charts in America. Both tunes are expected to be featured on his forthcoming solo album Music for People Who Believe in Love, but for the moment, that title has no release date.
