Skeleton Crew Trailer Leads to Fighting Fans but Jude Law Reassures Us It's Classic Star Wars

Summary The Skeleton Crew trailer showcases two kids' adventures with Jude Law's mysterious Jedi. Watch out for tons of Easter Eggs. Jude Law is ecstatic about the show, but some fans have already made their minds up that it's not worth their time, dividing the Star Wars fanship. The trailer was released the same day that Disney teased the first new Star Wars movie since 2019, The Mandalorian and Grogu ..

The first trailer for Jude Law's highly anticipated Star Wars series Skeleton Crew has finally been released by Lucasfilm. The teaser for the series, which is set to hit Disney+ on December 3, 2024, was unveiled at the D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney Fan Event, which also announced other noteworthy projects, including Avatar: Fire and Ash, The Incredibles 3, and Toy Story 5.

The newly released trailer for the upcoming series makes it clear that the show is centered on a group of kids rather than the standard Jedi vs. Sith saga. As seen in the trailer, a group of children studying in a school decides to ditch class and do something exciting. However, when they discover a deserted Jedi Temple, they are thrown into an unfamiliar galaxy and must figure out a way to get back home. The kids are seen trapped behind bars but are rescued by Jude Law's hooded character, to whom they exclaim in awe, "You're a Jedi."

The trailer did a pretty good job of telling this coming-of-age story, highlighting the beautiful cinematography and the imaginative danger faced by the youngsters in the unfamiliar galaxy. You can watch the trailer below.

Skeleton Crew Easter Eggs & Fans Fight Over the Trailer

Despite being a part of the Star Wars canon, Skeleton Crew seems to be mostly a standalone story set in the same period as The Mandalorian. Thus, it's unlikely that we'll see any cameos like the ones from Ahsoka or The Book of Boba Fett. Nonetheless, it does feature a few Easter eggs for the fans of Star Wars, as addressed by Jude Law in a recent interview with People. He stated,

"It is a fun place to be, the universe of Star Wars, and there are great references to old films and recent episodes and series . There's a lot of originality and I hope that will bring the feeling of fun to those who watch it. If you look carefully, [we] got some Star Wars tech that dates right back, I believe, to the original film. I can't wait. I mean, even in the first episode, there's a couple really, really great references that certain fans will immediately recognize."

You can come into it completely fresh and enjoy the story. But if you do happen to be a Star Wars super fan, there's a lot for you.

Star Wars shows have received a very mixed reaction of late, but Skeleton Crew could change all that.

Fan reactions have been mixed, with the usual Disney haters bashing various elements, but there's a surprisingly large amount of people who seem delighted by the show. From our Facebook post of the trailer, one follower writes, "How the hell does a show aimed at kids look 1000% better then the acolyte. And yes I wil be watching." There are many negative responses, and then one comment from that calls out the haters this way:

"Again, another post where a bunch of grown men are bashing a show that is not even aimed at them. This is a show for younger teens and children yet here are the incels again bashing it. And do you know why? Because it's made by Disney. Ever since Disney came out against the orange cults agenda they do nothing but bash anything made by Disney just like their cult leader teaches them. And I know, I know a bunch will come on to try and defend their cult and say it the stories and the writing and the acting that they don't like. If that were the case then that bashing wouldn't happen til after it's released, but to do it before means that no matter what it is you have another issue that is driving your "opinions.'"
