Darnell Mooney spoke positively about his current situation but avoided making a projection on whether he will suit up for the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
The wide receiver has been practicing since Monday, according to head coach Raheem Morris, a statement that was echoed Wednesday by offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
On Thursday (04), it was Mooney's turn to address the media, and while he expressed confidence in his progress, the receiver chose to leave open the decision on whether he'll be able to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in the season opener.
"I feel good," Mooney said. "I mean, I don't know in terms of percentage. Mentally, I feel good. Physically, I feel good."
Mooney injured his right shoulder on July 24 during the Falcons' first open training camp practice and had been sidelined since then, only returning to group activities last Thursday, albeit in a limited capacity.
"I've been like a ghost for a month," Mooney said. "I'm just so happy to be back."
Last season, Mooney played 16 games and totaled 64 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns. Of those games, the first 14 were with Kirk Cousins at quarterback and the last two with Michael Penix Jr., after the Falcons made a switch in Week 16, giving Penix the starting QB job over Cousins.
