Hail fell in Galipán

Hail fell in Galipán

An unusual meteorological event occurred in the highlands of Ávila on Friday afternoon, when residents of the community of Galipán, Macuto parish, La Guaira state, reported hail. The phenomenon, rare in the area, occurred amid intense cloud cover and rainfall in the coastal mountain ranges.

The situation generated alerts in surrounding areas. Residents of La Veguita, in the same parish, reported a significant rise in the riverbed, prompting the deployment of regional security authorities to monitor the area. Officials assured that, "thanks to the risk mitigation efforts promoted through the Rainfall Plan, the situation is completely normal," stated Secretary of Citizen Security Andrés Goncalves. However, they confirmed that they will remain "alert and permanently monitor" any contingency.

The event occurs amidst high meteorological activity. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), tropical wave 34 could enter the country in the coming hours. At the same time, the agency reported that tropical wave 35 continues its course through the central Atlantic and is expected to impact the Essequibo region over the weekend.

Although rainfall has not been significant in La Guaira in recent hours, abundant cloud cover has been observed. According to reports, the precipitation has been more intensely concentrated in the mountain ranges, which explains the events recorded in Galipán and the resulting reaction of the rivers flowing toward the coast.

Authorities recommend that the public stay informed through official channels and take precautions against possible sudden rains and rising streams.
