Former USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski earned more than Gregg Berhalter, figures reveal

Former USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski earned more than his USMNT equivalent Gregg Berhalter during his final nine months in charge of the women's national team, official figures have revealed.

Andonovski, who resigned from his position following the 2023 World Cup, was paid $411, 471 in base salary while Berhalter was paid $346,452 from April 2023 to March 2024. Andonovski's total pay of $454,048, including other compensation and benefits, over that period also outstripped Berhalter's $376,214 total.

The figures were revealed with U.S. Soccer -- the governing body that runs both the men's and women's games in the United States -- publishing their tax return for the financial year ending March 31, 2024.

Andonovski left his role following the tournament in Australia and New Zealand in August 2023, but the figures reveal his salary was paid to December of that year.

Berhalter was brought back into post in June of that year following an investigation into his conduct in the aftermath of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Andonovski has since been succeeded by Emma Hayes, who left her position as manager of the Chelsea women's team to take over a national team for the first time. She has gone to win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in the summer of 2024 and guided the side to second place in the recent SheBelieves Cup behind Japan.

The Athletic reported around her appointment in November 2023 that Hayes was likely to earn close to $2million per year.

Berhalter was fired following the USMNT's early exit from the Copa America last summer and was later replaced by former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The figures also detail a number of player salaries for the specific financial period with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Matt Turner topping the list for income with $524,696 in total compensation.

AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah ($435,881), Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson ($429,734), Fulham defender Antonee Robinson ($429,225) and PSV defender Sergino Dest ($424,777) were the other players included.
