Fireworks and tree lighting kick off holiday season at Bicentennial Park

GRAND BLANC TWP, MI -- Flashing lights and sirens brought Santa Claus into Creasey Bicentennial Park on Friday, Dec. 6.

Though Santa did not come in on his customary sleigh, a fire truck did bring the jolly old man to meet youngsters after he walked through one of many light displays.

The park off East Grand Blanc Road also featured over a mile of lighted trails and fire pits under lights for attendees to explore and warm up by.

After Santa's arrival, the sixth annual tree lighting commenced with fireworks following, filling the sky with festive colors and leaving smiles on faces in the crowd.

The free magical and festive event drew hundreds of residents out to the park, located at 1505 E. Grand Blanc Road in Grand Blanc Township, despite the frigid evening weather.

"It's neat, you know there's not too many events that we see going on like this," said John Bolanowski, 25, of Genesee County. "It's cold, but it's worth it."

While Santa and Mrs. Claus were taking photos with families on their sleigh, the Grinch was seen walking around poking fun at participants and taking selfies.

"I feel the Christmas spirit here," said Chloe Bolanowski, 23, of Genesee County.
