For Yellowstone star Cole Hauser, a morning cup of coffee is a must. After all, it's tough work being a cowboy -- something the Drummonds know all too well.

So, it's no surprise that one of Hauser's biggest business ventures outside of television was the launch of his own coffee company in 2023, Free Rein Coffee. With his mission to "serve those who serve," his team gives a cup to someone who serves their country or community for every bag bought at a retail partner.

Now, that mission is going even further! Free Rein Coffee has just announced their first nationwide rollout into retail, only at Walmart. Ahead of the launch, Cole Hauser shared an exclusive look at what's brewing behind the scenes -- and that includes a peak into his own morning routine while filming on Dutton Ranch. Learn how the actor takes his coffee, his favorite new flavor, and just how much this expansion means to him.

Hauser has been bringing quality coffee to households across the country for nearly a year now, but with the new launch, he tells us, "I'm pretty proud of not only our team, but the partnership with Walmart and being able to expand here in our country. And not just in coffee, but our message and our ethos as a company, and what we care about as a company, as far as veterans, and first responders, and teachers, and people that matter within our communities."

Since Free Rein is inspired by both the hard working cowboys Hauser grew up around and those portrayed in Yellowstone, the actor knows a thing or two about needing some giddy-up in the morning -- especially during long days of filming. When asked about his specific morning coffee routine, he says, "I'm pretty simple and old school. I like pour over black. That's how I drink it."

He adds a glimpse into days spent on set, saying, "Three cups a day no matter what. Sometimes five. But, you know, like after lunch, sometimes if it's been a long day [and] we've been up since four in the morning riding or something like that, you need a little bit of a buzz just to kind of get back on the horse and work. I'll have some some American Dirt after lunch."

Yes, Hauser definitely drinks his own brews! When asked which of the Free Rein flavors is his favorite, he answered, "I'm American Dirt all the way. I basically created it with these roasters out of San Angelo." He joked, "Basically, I just lit the beans on fire as much as I could and they said you have to stop or you won't be able to drink it."

"But I love the unique taste of it. I named it, obviously. I've really enjoyed Texas Pecan as well. My wife drinks Branded, which she loves. It has a little bit more of a spice to it. But each and every one of our SKUs, I think they're different, special and unique," he adds.

Just as he did with the ways of the ranch for Yellowstone, Hauser dove headfirst into all things caffeine when starting his own coffee company. On developing new Free Rein flavors, Hauser tells us, "It's been fun to learn about coffee, too."

"When you get involved in, at least for me, any business, I want to learn. That's the key I think to being successful is being able to talk about the product. So, I wasn't like a coffee connoisseur a year ago, and I've become a little bit more of a snob when it comes to coffee. I want it a certain way, poured a certain way, and roasted a certain way," he explains.
