Manoah was once one of the most promising pitchers in baseball. He had a 3.22 ERA as a rookie and was an All-Star in his second season. He also finished in third place in the American League Cy Young Award race in his second season. However, things have gone downhill ever since.

He had a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts in his third season. Last season, he made just five starts before a season-ending injury. He had a 3.96 ERA in the minor leagues this season, but now the once-promising star has been designated for assignment.

As for the Blue Jays, the team gets Santander back. He was an All-Star last season and hit 44 home runs. This season, he is hitting just .179 with six home runs in 50 games. However, the hope is that he can be healthy and play a role down the stretch. The Blue Jays signed him to a five-year, $92 million deal in the offseason.

The Blue Jays still do not have Bo Bichette back. Bichette may need to play as a DH when he returns, which could complicate playing time for Santander or other players. However, if Bichette can slot back in at shortstop, the Blue Jays could be at full force in October.
