This small, clifftop coastal hamlet is located at the mouth of the Teifi River and Cardigan Bay.
Gwbert, pronounced 'Goobert', is named after an early wandering saint who is said to have taken shelter in a cave here.
The village is home to three rarely visited coves: Morgan's Beach, Evelyn's Beach, and Cowley Beach.
Morgan's Beach, the furthest from Gwbert, is a modestly sized patch of sand surrounded by dark shale cliffs.
Access is via steps carved into the rocks.
Evelyn's Beach, the closest to the village, is situated just below the Cliff Hotel.
This pebble beach is the easiest to reach.
Cowley Beach is a narrow, rocky inlet with some sand and is accessed by steps carved into the rocks.
The Gwbert area is well known for its wildlife, with a great variety of flora, fauna, and sea life.
Visitors may be lucky enough to spot some of Cardigan Bay's resident dolphins or even a whale.
Gwbert looks across to Pembrokeshire, the curved sweep of Poppit Sands, and the sea breaking over the Cardigan sand bar.
At Craig y Gwbert, on the seaward edge of the Cliff Hotel grounds, are the remains of an Iron Age fort.
These days, Gwbert has very comfortable places to sleep, eat, and drink.
There is the Cliff Hotel, which offers magnificent views from its dining rooms, the Gwbert Hotel, which has a restaurant and a pleasant outdoor area overlooking the bay, and Cardigan Golf Club, which is open to non-members for food and drinks.
Perhaps the most exciting recent development at Gwbert is the opening of The Ceredigion Way, a 60-mile footpath that leaves Cardigan, passes through Gwbert, and forms a section of the Wales Coast Path.
For those interested in the arts, Cardigan has two arts venues, Theatre Mwldan and Small World Theatre.
Near to Cilgerran is Rhos-y-Gilwen Mansion, which is set in a beautiful estate and attracts international musicians and artists.
Gwbert Beach is a dog-friendly beach with no restrictions.
