Carl Eugene Orndoff, age 76 of Greenup, Ill. passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:25 a.m.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Warren James Winery, 5600 Lerna Road, Mattoon, IL 61938. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is assisting with arrangements.

Carl was born October 28, 1948, in Mattoon, Ill. to the late Raymond Carroll and Harriet Mary (Holmes) Orndoff. He leaves behind: a daughter, Missie Briggs and husband, Mike of Greenup, Ill.; a son, Jeremy Orndoff of Long Beach, Miss.; two sisters, Sharon LeDuc and husband, Dick of Asheville, N.C. and Cindy Orndoff of Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandsons, Cole and Cade Briggs, and Brayden Orndoff; seven nieces and nephews; and twelve great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Wright. Carl was a caring, positive adult influence for several relatives of his ex-wife.

Carl graduated from Paris High School in 1966. He also resided in Kansas and Windsor, Ill. He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and SIU Carbondale and held an Associate Degree in Civil engineering from Lakeland College and endorsement in environmental engineering from U of I-Springfield. Carl did construction work at various locations and environmental engineering for Frank and West Environmental Engineers, Inc.

Carl was skilled working with wood and built beautiful furniture. He loved sports and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals.
