TWO teenagers have been arrested in connection with the death of Amen Teklay.

Emergency services were called to Clarendon Street in Maryhill at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, March 5 following a report of a person being found serious injured.

Amen, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene.

(Image: Police Scotland) Police have confirmed two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested in connection with the death.

An investigation remains ongoing.

We previously reported Amen, who was a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary in Jordanhill, has been described as being a 'role model to others' by a youth support worker following his death.

The 15-year-old lived in Knightswood in the city's northwest and attended various groups at local organisation, Kingsway Community Connections (KCC).

(Image: Newsquest) Jamie O'Neill, a support staff member at KCC, told the Glasgow Times that he worked with Amen for around two or three years.

He explained that the schoolboy was an avid part of their film group and 'meant a lot' to the other members with one youngster describing him as being like their 'big brother'.

Jamie said: "Initially Amen would join some of his friends to play football here and then he joined our youth group and took part in more activities like the Harvest Festival.

"That led to him being a part of our film group and he was involved in a film called 'We Are Kingsway' which was about young people.

"Amen was meant to be part of the filming and the sound team but then said he wanted to speak. I think over the last few days I realised how much Amen meant to the young people that were involved in that group.

"They may not have been Amen's age or in his immediate friend group but the young boys looked up to him.

"One boy messaged me and said 'I don't have a big brother but Amen was my big brother and he always told me to stay out of trouble as well as checking in on me'.

"When you're young you need that. As much as I feel I tried to be a role model to Amen that was passed on and he became that role model to others."
