Dijon Lee Jr's height surprised his Alabama football teammates. The freshman cornerback arrived at spring practice, listed at 6-foot-4, far taller than the majority of players at his position.
UA safety Bray Hubbard said he hadn't seen a player that tall at the position.
"He's long," Hubbard told reporters Friday in Tuscaloosa. "Great player man. That's what you want to have out there, a guy like him, super long. He's fast for as long as he is. I've never seen a corner that big. I'm honestly speechless about what to say. He's tall."
Lee came to Alabama as a five-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. In addition to his height, he's listed at 197 pounds.
By body type, he seems more like a safety. However, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said Lee will be sticking at corner for now.
"Obviously time will tell," Wommack said. "Bodies develop and all those things. He looks like a corner right now. He just looks like a really long-ass corner."
Lee finished last season at Mission Viejo in California with 52 tackles, four interceptions and two pass breakups. He also played on offense in high school.
Alabama opened spring practice Monday. According to Wommack, Lee has turned heads in the first week, and not just because of his length.
"He's got really good feet," Wommack said. "He's got a maturity -- he reminds me a little bit of Zabien (Brown). I don't want to put too much pressure on him too early, but he has a demeanor that indicates that a freshman can come in and contribute. Mo (Linguist) does such a great job with the discipline and detail of those guys at that position.
"I think he had a pick today, but he gave up a ball today as well. Those are the give and take of, how will he respond to that as spring ball goes on."
Alabama is set to take a week off for spring break, but will continue spring practice through April 12, when it will play the A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. A-Day will not be televised, but admission will be free.
