Alphonsa Zinia wins bronze medal in Asian Youth Olympic Games; nine-member Indian Muay Thai team including Jaipur's Mudit Gupta excels in Bahrain | Jaipur News - The Times of India

Jaipur: Mudit Gupta of Jaipur along with eight other members represented the Indian Muay Thai team in the recently held Asian Youth Olympic Championships, organised by the Olympic Council of Asia, in Bahrain. Athletes from 45 countries participated in the mega event.A team of nine Muay Thai athletes from India participated, and one of them -- Alphonsa Zinia Wriang of Meghalaya won the bronze medal. Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha congratulated Alphonsa and other athletes who performed well in Bahrain.Upon arriving in Delhi, the team visited the residence of Union sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Mandaviya congratulated Alphonsa, Mudit Gupta of Jaipur, Yuvraj Singh of Chhattisgarh, and Paris of Assam for their good performances and wished them a bright future. He assured to provide all possible support to the players from the sports ministry.United Muay Thai Association of India president Manoj Verma and general secretary Shriram Choudhary were also present. Under Choudhary's leadership, the Indian athletes participated in the Bahrain championship.
