Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries during next summer's transfer window.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, with the Netherlands international expected to be a target for the La Liga champions in 2026.
Dumfries' future was the subject of much speculation during the summer transfer window due to the presence of a €25m (£21.7m) release clause, but the buy-out fee expired at the end of July.
The 29-year-old has again been in strong form for Inter this season, scoring three times in 12 appearances, including two goals in three matches in the league phase of the Champions League.
Manchester United are believed to retain an interest in the Dutchman, who recently said that he would "definitely be interested" in making the move to the Premier League.
"I play in Serie A and I'm comfortable at Inter, but I think I could do well in the Premier League too. I'd definitely be interested. The Premier League is known for its intensity, while Serie A is one of the strongest leagues tactically," Dumfries told reporters in September.
Barcelona 'interested' in 2026 move for Dumfries
However, according to reports in Spain, Barcelona are also keen, with the Catalan outfit's sporting director Deco identifying the defender as a potential signing next year.
Dumfries has scored 25 goals and registered 26 assists in 189 appearances for Inter since making the move to San Siro from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.
The Dutchman's current deal is due to run until June 2028, but an exit next summer is believed to be a strong possibility, as he looks to sample a new league in the prime years of his career.
Man United could provide Barcelona's strongest competition next summer, although Manchester City have also previously been credited with an interest and could also potentially be in the race.
Dumfries could solve Barcelona's right-back issue
Barcelona have had defensive problems this season, with the right-side of their defence a weakness, and it is understood that the club want to sign a new player in that area in 2026.
Jules Kounde was excellent at right-back last term but has not been at his best this term, with the Frenchman much more comfortable in the middle of the defence, while the same can also be said for Eric Garcia.
Barcelona have won their last two matches against Girona and Olympiacos, but they were beaten 4-1 by Sevilla before the October international break, and Kounde had a tough match at the Estadio Ramon.
