10 Best Fighters in Arcane, Ranked

10 Best Fighters in Arcane, Ranked

Although not the main draw of the series, Arcane is filled with exciting, memorable, and gorgeously animated fights. These unforgettable battles wouldn't be as brilliant as they are if the cast wasn't filled with formidable fighters in possession of a diverse set of combat styles. Some characters prefer to fight with their bare hands, while others favor melee weapons or guns.

Arcane may feature magic and futuristic technology, but fighters like Vi and Ekko can handle themselves on their own. Both characters created for the series, and familiar League of Legends favorites receive ample opportunities to display their skills. These characters may not all be among the most powerful in the world of Runeterra overall, but they're the ones who don't need any special powers to fight for what they want.

10 Mel Isn't a Warrior at Heart

Close

Mel Medarda is a firm believer in diplomacy over direct confrontation. Her lack of passion in battle and her unwillingness to kill her enemies are what drove her mother, Ambessa, to send her away from Noxus in the first place. However, that doesn't take away from Mel having spent her early years learning to fight from one of Arcane's fiercest warriors.

Mel Medarda is voiced by Toks Olagundoye.

During the final battle in the series, Mel is able to defeat Ambessa with assistance from Caitlyn Kiramman. This is a feat she only accomplishes thanks to the powers she receives from the Black Rose, but the strategic sense she displays in the fight shouldn't be understated. If Mel didn't at least have a good head for combat, all the mystical power in the world wouldn't have allowed her to overcome her mother.

9 Smeech Puts Up an Impressive Fight Against Sevika and Jinx

Smeech was once one of the various chem-barons who worked directly under Silco. Unlike his peers, Smeech gets the chance to establish himself as a formidable fighter and is not simply reliant on his henchmen. While he loses his only battle in the series, the evil Yordle performs better than most could against the united strength of Jinx and Sevika.

Smeech is voiced by Lenny Citrano.

Prior to the events of the series, Smeech had both of his arms replaced with robotic ones. These artificial limbs come equipped with blades and claws that suit his ferocious and bloodthirsty personality perfectly. Smeech isn't able to escape being killed by Sevika's own robotic arm, but it's easy to see how he was a threat to the rest of Zaun.

8 Jayce is Surprisingly Adept in Combat

Jayce Talis is not the type of man one would expect to be useful in a tough scrape. He's a wealthy scientist and politician who'd presumably never been in a fight prior to the start of the series, and no mention of his training is ever made. Yet, during their fight against the Chemtanks in Season 1, Jayce holds his own next to Vi.

Jayce Talis is voiced by Kevin Alejandro.

The most obvious way Jayce compensates for his lack of training is his incredibly muscular physique. It's thanks to this that he's able to wield the Mercury Hammer and do so with aplomb. During Arcane's final battle, Jayce is able to use an alternate version of the hammer to fight against Viktor, at the peak of his power.

Arcane Season 2, Act 3 Review: An Underwhelming Finale to a Modern Masterpiece

Despite having almost everything going in its favor, Arcane Season 2, Act 3 brings the beloved show to a lukewarm conclusion.

7 Caitlyn Receives Training From Ambessa

Caitlyn Kiramman grows significantly as a fight over the course of Arcane's two seasons. At the start of Season 1, Act II, Caitlyn's only true talent is as a markswoman. While she definitely received hand-to-hand combat training as an Enforcer, based on how Enforcers tend to operate, this extensiveness of this process was likely limited.

Caitlyn Kiramman is voiced by Katie Leung.

In Season 2, Caitlyn becomes the protégé of Ambessa Medarda. Ambessa teaches her not only how to be a ruler and general but how to be a superior fighter, training her personally. It's this training that allows Caitlyn to defeat Ambessa during the final battle, with assistance from Mel Medarda's mystical powers.

6 Sevika is One of the Toughest Brawlers in Zaun

From the start of Arcane till the end, Sevika maintains a position as one of the most powerful citizens of the Undercity. She goes from being one of Vander's lieutenants, to Silco's second-in-command to, ultimately, Zaun's representative on the Piltover Council. Despite not being the smartest or the most charismatic, Sevika is able to achieve largely thanks to being one of the strongest fighters in her home city.

Sevika is voiced by Amirah Vann.

As Silco's top enforcer during Season 1, Sevika is trusted with the same level of responsibility as Jinx. With only the advantage of a robotic arm, Sevika is able to repeatedly fight evenly against Vi. In Season 2, Sevika fights and defeats Smeech, with assistance from Jinx, and handles a fired-up Caitlyn without utilizing her robotic arm's special abilities.

5 Jinx Relies Heavily on Shimmer and Her Weapons

Close

Ever since she was a child, Jinx failed to be as tough as her older sister, Vi. Even as a teenager, one capable of fending off Firelights in hand-to-hand combat, Jinx's talents still can't compare to Vi's raw strength. However, thanks to her wide supply of weapons and the Shimmer coursing through Jinx's veins, she manages to be just as threatening in a fight.

Jinx is voiced by Ella Purnell.

Whether she's using her pistol or firing off her mini-gun, Jinx is an expert markswoman. During Season 1, she primarily fights by blending this skill with her love for bombs and explosives. After receiving a Shimmer infusion, Jinx becomes stronger and faster than ever. Combined with her preexisting skills, this gives Jinx the advantage she needs to briefly hold her own against Vi during their fight in Season 2, Act I.

4 Vander Was the Strongest Man in Zaun

In terms of raw physical strength among normal humans, Vander's is arguably unmatched in Arcane. Prior to the start of the series, Vander's strength was legendary enough that no one in Zaun was foolish enough to cross him, and he taught Vi everything she knows about fighting. While Vander himself only gets to fight in Season 1, Episode 3, he makes a lasting impression in the process.

Vander is voiced by JB Blanc.

Following the explosion that kills his sons, Mylo and Claggor, Vander is able to push himself out of the massive pile of rubble that's collapsed on him. He then proceeds to walk through several of Silco's henchmen with even more ease than Vi had during her previous fight and even takes on the Shimmer-infused Deckard. Even after being repeatedly stabbed by Silco and thrown off the catwalk they're on, Vander is still able to find the strength to infuse himself with Shimmer. And, once the two are on more equal footing, Vander has no trouble killing the previously unstoppable monster.

3 Ekko Has Fought For Everything He's Ever Had

Ekko is not only one of the smartest characters in Arcane but one of the series' best fighters. Having only been shown a few moves and given inspiration by Vi when he was little, Ekko was forced to forge his own path after losing all his friends and family. This led Ekko to train himself into a formidable warrior, one deserving of leading his group of rebels, the Firelights.

Ekko is voiced by Reed Shannon.

Ekko typically fights with a bat and with specialized bombs of his own creation. While he's at his strongest on his hoverboard, Ekko isn't significantly hindered when he's forced to fight without it. During their incredible Season 1 brawl, Ekko defeats Jinx without too much difficulty, although this is partially due to Jinx having lost the will to live. During Arcane's final battle, Ekko takes on two of the greatest threats in the series, helping Vi and Jinx in their fight against Warwick and challenging Viktor without fear.

2 Vi Spends an Entire Year Honing Her Skills in Underground Fights

The main hero of Arcane, Vi fights more than any other character in the series. Having been trained by Vander, Vi fights with a style that blends boxing and street fighting. Even during Season 1, Act 1, Vi was already capable of punching her way through a gauntlet of Silco's henchmen, and she only improves as she spends 7 years training while in prison and endures the events of the show.

Vi is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

Vi is the best fighter either Zaun or Piltover has ever known. Typical criminals and Enforcers are presented as no threat to her; the Firelights require superior numbers and their high-tech gear to challenge her, and she's demonstrably superior to Sevika and Jinx during her encounters with them. Even without her Atals Gauntlets, Vi is capable of casually punching people through walls, and there's no telling how much stronger she grew during the year she spent competing in and dominating underground fights.

1 Ambessa Was a Fearsome Warlord with Decades of Experience

Close

In a cast largely otherwise filled by young people and non-combatants, Ambessa Medarda stands out. The Noxian Warlord was in her 50s and had fought more than any other character in Arcane. As she demonstrated throughout Season 2, the countless battles Ambessa had been in and won shaped her into a fighter far beyond the rest of the cast.

Ambessa Medarda is voiced by Ellen Thomas.

Placing great value on the personal abilities individuals possess in battle, Ambessa was the fiercest member of her army and wouldn't have allowed herself to be anything else. Ambessa's skills in combat translated well into teaching as, in only a year, she was able to train Caitlyn to the point her apprentice could challenge her. Even then, Ambessa only met her end at the hands of Caitlyn and Mel because of the powers the Black Rose had bestowed upon her daughter.
