Quail Roost Station, an affordable housing development designed for seniors, groundbreaking ceremony on August 14 - The Westside Gazette

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee will officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the next phase of Quail Roost Station, an affordable housing development designed for seniors, on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m.

This new phase, expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will comprise 124 units, including 36 studios, 72 one-bedroom units, and 16 two-bedroom units. The units will be allocated based on income levels, with 20 units available at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI), 44 units at or below 60% of the AMI, and 60 units at or below 70% of the AMI.

The development will provide direct access to public transportation and feature various amenities, including a community room, business center, fitness center, and onsite laundry facilities. Additionally, residents will have access to adult literacy classes, employment assistance, and financial management program classes.

This phase is part of a six-phase revitalization effort aimed at enhancing the entire community. Phase One, launched in 2020, included 200 units. Miami-Dade County has awarded Quail Roost Station a $4.96 million grant from Surtax funding to support the project.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in the development of affordable housing options for seniors in Miami-Dade County.
