Security incident shuts CIA HQ gate, causes traffic headaches in McLean - WTOP News

A spokesperson from the CIA told WTOP National Security Correspondent JJ Green there was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA headquarters.

The CIA's headquarters in Langley, Virginia, shuttered its front gate Thursday morning after an apparent security incident.

A spokesperson from the CIA told WTOP National Security Correspondent JJ Green there was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA headquarters.

"We don't have many details," WTOP National Security Correspondent JJ Green said. "There is a situation that took place this morning. It's so recent, we don't have a solid time on it or cause or even what happened."

The main gate is currently closed. Employees are told to seek alternate routes.

That gate closure is causing traffic concerns.

"Now we were told this morning, at 123, at Georgetown Pike, the traffic lights were flashing in all directions. There was someone there directing. So, there were delays 123 both ways and along Georgetown pike. But now hearing, of course, the main entrance, as JJ was saying to the CIA, is closed. So just watch out," WTOP Traffic Reporter Reada Kessler said.
