A man is dead after a shooting in the Chickasaw neighborhood Dec. 31, Louisville Metro Police said.
LMPD spokesperson Matthew Sanders said Second Division officers responded to reports of a shooting at 1120 S. 36th St. just before midnight. When they were responding, officers were notified that a young man was being taken to U of L Hospital in a private vehicle.
When he arrived, he was immediately rushed into surgery with a gunshot wound to the chest, and was later pronounced dead by medical professionals on Jan. 1.
Identified as Michael Lamont Bass II, 21, by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, the shooting is believed to have happened outside No Haterz Club with multiple potential witnesses, Sanders said.
LMPD's homicide unit is investigating.
