Big news in Jefferson Parish as it appears Ochsner has been issued a $150 million permit for the construction of the Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children's Hospital.
To be located near the main campus on Jefferson Highway, the state-of-the-art facility will feature enhanced drainage systems, a pocket park, and underground retention for 435,000 gallons of water.
The project is slated for completion in late 2027 and is being led by The Lemoine Company.
In Orleans Parish, Loyola University is advancing its campus expansion with $13 million in ongoing construction at 2020 Calhoun St., where Mercy Hall previously stood.
The project includes the installation of new gas service to support generators and water boilers for a new dormitory facility, reflecting the university's focus on accommodating its growing student body.
Meanwhile, Tulane University is investing $7.4 million into renovations at the Hutchinson Building, located at 1430 Tulane Ave. and home to the Tulane School of Medicine.
The project will transform the 7th floor with new lab spaces and 19 VRF units, emphasizing Tulane's commitment to enhancing its medical education and research facilities.
Over in Central City, 1304 Saint Charles Ave. is set to receive a $2.8 million, 5-story mixed-use property that will include retail, apartments, and a rooftop pool deck.
