Demarcus Robinson, Quentin Johnston, Top Fantasy Waiver-Wire WRs After Kupp Injury

After an outstanding first game of the year, the injury bug has hit Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rams head coach Sean McVay said Kupp is expected to miss "an extended period of time" and could land on the injured reserve because of an ankle injury.

That news is a tough blow to the Rams, who are already without wide receiver Puka Nacua, but also to fantasy football managers who were hoping to get a big season from Cupp. The eighth-year veteran has dealt with a handful of injuries over the past few years but is just three seasons removed from his 1,947-yard, 16-touchdown season in 2021.

Fantasy managers who lost Kupp to the injury are likely frustrated, but there are some potential waiver pickups that could help fill in for Kupp until he's back on the field.

With the Rams' top two receivers out for an extended period of time, Demarcus Robinson will likely be called upon heavily over the next few weeks.

The veteran had a solid year in 2023, totaling 371 yards and four touchdowns while hauling in 32 receptions. He's put together a pair of solid games to start the year, recording 42 yards on four receptions in Week 1 before picking up 50 yards on two receptions on Sunday.

It's likely Robinson will take on a bigger role with Kupp and Nacua out, meaning he could be a solid waiver pickup.

After a shaky showing in his rookie season last year, former first-round pick Quentin Johnston is hoping to have a breakout year.

The wide receiver is already on his way, tallying as many touchdowns as he had a year ago in just Weeks 1 and 2. He had 38 receiving yards in Week 1 before collecting 51 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 2.

It's hard to judge whether Johnston will be a regular candidate to haul in two receiving touchdowns in a game, as he did so against one of the worst teams in the league when the Chargers faced the Carolina Panthers.

Still, it could be worth taking a chance on Johnston, especially this early in the season.

Jerry Jeudy is looking to move on from his mediocre years with the Denver Broncos and start fresh with the Cleveland Browns.

The fifth-year receiver is off to a strong start in 2024, recording 98 receiving yards and a touchdown through Weeks 1 and 2. What's more, he recorded those numbers against two good teams in the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars. When the Browns go up against less threatening defenses, Jeudy could be due for some big games this year.

His numbers have also come amid a sluggish start to the year for quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has 355 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions through the first two weeks of the season.

If Watson can figure things out -- or if the Browns bench him in favor of Jameis Winston -- more passes could come Jeudy's way and it could lead to some strong fantasy performances.
