Rockets Ex Boban Marjanovic Still Looking for New Team

Former Houston Rockets center Boban Marjanovic is looking for a new home after the team failed to sign him to a new contract this offseason.

Marjanovic, who turns 36 next week, has played in the NBA since 2015 and is just one season away from achieving a decade in the league. However, his chances of signing with a team are growing slimmer by the day.

When Marjanovic signed with the Rockets in the summer of 2022, he was seen as a veteran leader who would mostly sit on the bench. That was reflected in his playing time, appearing in just 31 games in his first season in Houston.

The Rockets decided to bring him back for a second season to continue his veteran mentorship with Houston's younger players. He played in just 14 games this past season, averaging 3.2 points per game.

Marjanovic is a colorful character, and quite possibly the most universally-liked player in the league. It's hard to find a team or person who doesn't like Boban, especially after his missed free throw in last season's finale against the Los Angeles Clippers, that won fans free chicken in a promotional item.

Marjanovic can foster a strong culture with whatever team he's a part of, so there is reason for him to join a new team. However, his chances are growing slimmer as he remains without a team just two months before the start of training camps around the league.
