Kota Kinabalu: ConocoPhillips Malaysia has launched its STEM education and digital inclusion initiative to raise awareness and nurture interest among students.

"We believe our initiatives can make a lasting impact in shaping future generations," said ConocoPhillips Malaysia President Connor Dunn at the launch of the programme titled "STEM Forward: Powered by ConocoPhillips and the U.S. Embassy" at the Tanjung Aru Library.
The initiative, a collaboration between ConocoPhillips, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), and the U.S. Embassy, is designed to inspire students, strengthen academic foundations and nurture future-ready talents.
It bridges classroom learning with hands-on, industry-relevant experiences to foster critical thinking, creativity and digital literacy.

"Students engage in hands-on experiments and simulations that connect science to everyday life, building interest in math and science while deepening their understanding of STEM," said ConocoPhillips Malaysia Senior General Manager, KBB Asset, Ian Ramshaw.

UTP Programme Manager Dr Nasir Abdul Jalil said the institution strives to enhance the quality and accessibility of STEM learning through hands-on programmes that cultivate creativity, digital literacy and real-world applications of science and technology.
"As an educational institution, our responsibility is to continuously develop initiatives that prepare students not only to excel academically but also to thrive in evolving STEM fields, contributing to Malaysia's sustainable development and technological advancement," he said.
As part of the STEM Forward initiative, ConocoPhillips Malaysia donated data analytics devices, robotics kits, a drone set and a 3D printer to the Tanjung Aru Library.
The donation was presented by Ian to library director George Yih Ching Yaw, witnessed by Choi and Hassan Mahali, Permanent Secretary of the Sabah Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
