Assembly is our annual gathering of participatory events, workshops, and presentations highlighting the collaborative work of PSU's Art + Social Practice MFA cohort. Assembly 2025: Public Domain activates downtown Portland. In partnership with the Portland Office of Arts and Culture, the cohort is working as Portland metro Artists in Residence -- bringing participatory art projects and performances directly into public spaces and everyday settings. Lectures and exhibitions by graduating students, Midori Yamanka and Manfred Parrales, will also be featured. Assembly invites you to experience the city -- and your everyday life -- through a new lens.
Assembly at KSMoCA
We are excited to present the work of Xavier Pierce and his students at KSMoCA. As a first grade teacher at Dr. MLK Jr. School and KSMoCA's Spring visiting artist, Mr. Pierce makes work that invites reflection, vulnerability, and emotional clarity. His first grade students, who participated in making collaborative paintings in the exhibition, will join him in answering questions during the artist lecture in the school's library.
Assembly 2025: Public Domain is co-authored by artists Midori Yamanaka, Manfred Parrales, Lou Blumberg, Simeen Anjum, Clara Harlow, Nina Vichayapai, Adela Cardona Puerta, Gwen Hoeffgen, Dom Toliver, Sarah Luu, Laura Glazer, Dr. Kiara Hill, and Lisa Jarrett.
Free and open to the public. Come in person to any or all of the weekend's events. Check @psuartandsocialpractice for Instagram updates and visit here for the complete schedule.
