Showers and gusty winds are expected in Riverside County next week due to a low pressure system moving in from the northwest, according to the National Weather Service.
Chances of showers were expected from late Monday to Friday in the Riverside metropolitan area, the Temecula Valley and Hemet and from Monday to Thursday in the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs.
The greatest potential for heavy precipitation will arrive with the Wednesday/Thursday system, which will also bring widespread gusty west winds, forecasters said.
Strong winds are expected to start Monday with gusts of up to 20 mph in the Riverside metropolitan area and the Temecula Valley. Gusts were expected to peak Thursday to Friday at 55 to 65 mph in the mountains and deserts.
Snow levels will hover around 6,000 to 5,000 feet Monday and Tuesday, then fall to around 2,500 to 3,000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains by early Friday, according to the NWS.
This weekend was expected to remain sunny throughout the county with temperatures in the 70s for the Riverside metropolitan area, the upper 60s in the Temecula Valley and Hemet areas and upper 70s in the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs, according to the NWS.
