Lake Worth Playhouse. Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. And At Broward Center, Slow Burn Prepares For "Parade."
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) -- The hills are alive from 9-to-5 this weekend in South Florida, as two major productions continue their runs to largely sold-out crowds. The Sound Of Music enters its second week at Lake Worth Playhouse while "9 to 5 The Musical" continues its run at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. Both are local productions. Both are experiencing huge ticket sales.
The Sound Of Music hits all the right notes with an exceptionally talented cast of adults and what is unquestionably Broadway's next generation of actors and actresses in the children portraying the von Trapp kids. The show is big and bold, with every inch of the historic Lake Worth Playhouse stage being used -- even part of the theater itself. The cast is huge. And the acting/singing/dancing superb. The show runs through February 2nd. A few tickets remain and may be purchased online at the Lake Worth Playhouse website where you can view additional photos and see the full cast. (We note there are two casts of children due to the length of the run. One cast appears in the photo, above. The other cast includes Bear Fisch as Friedrich von Trapp, Chloe Sinclaire as Louisa von Trapp, Zach Lieberman as Kurt von Trapp, Juliette Cabrera as Brigitta von Trapp, Violet Segal as Marta von Trapp, and Emilia Bornia as Gretl von Trapp).
At the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, audiences are raving about "9 to 5 The Musical." Also with a stellar local cast, the show is the stage version of the iconic 80s' movie. "Based on the seminal 1980 hit movie, the show, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is a story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In an uproarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! And while he remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down."
The show runs through February 2nd with tickets available online at LPACFL.com, or by calling the box office at 954-777-2055. Tickets range in price from $45 to $65. There are afternoon and evening performances available on several dates. The show is directed by the ultra-talented Michael Ursua.
We also note that the Slow Burn Theater Company is preparing "Parade" which opens on February 8th and runs through February 23rd at the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. More on this once it opens, but for those unfamiliar with Parade, it's described by Slow Burn this way: "This Tony Award-winning musical is based on a true story that occurred more than a century ago, but the issues it raises - anti-Semitism, racial divides, mob rule, sensationalized media, and political maneuvering - still resonate today. The trial and events surrounding it led to the revival of the KKK and the birth of the Anti-Defamation League." Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster.
