CITYWIDE - CITY OFFICIALS WARNED of deadly cold temperatures this weekend, as snowfall began in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon. The city Office of Emergency Management updated the public on the National Weather Service forecast, which now reflects that temperatures on Saturday and Sunday night are set to dip into the teens, with a windchill leading to a single-digit "real-feel." Snowfall between half an inch and two inches is expected; snow was also predicted for Tuesday.
The city Department of Homeless Services also declared a "Code Blue" emergency and has dispatched outreach teams to assist the homeless population. The DHS is asking the public to call 311 if they notice someone who appears to be without shelter or in distress.
