The Hawaii men's basketball team will play an exhibition against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Admission and parking are free. The game will be broadcast only on KKEA 1420-AM / 92.7 FM.

The Rainbow Warriors' game against the Division III Sagehens is the first of two free exhibitions it will play at home this month before opening the regular season at Oregon on Nov. 4. On Oct. 26, Hawaii hosts Chaminade, also free to the public, at 5 p.m.

UH swimmer Surkovic wins BWC honor The Big West Conference on Tuesday named UH swimmer Mario Surkovic its Men's Athlete of the Week.

Surkovic opened the season at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif.. with five top-five finishes, including two event wins, helping the UH men finish second. The senior's results at the Triton : -- gold in the 200 individual medley -- bronze in the 100 freestyle -- fourth in the 100 breaststroke -- first-place in the 200 freestyle relay -- bronze in the 200 medley relay, in which he swam the breaststroke leg UH Hilo's Freeman top PacWest defender The Pacific West Conference named UH Hilo sophomore Isabella Freeman its Defender of the Week on Tuesday.

The Vulcans went 2-0 last week, and Freeman, who also won the award two weeks ago, totaled 35 kills and 13 blocks in eight sets.
