FYI: Certain 'Walkway' Amenities Now Done For Season

Though the weather outside may be turning frightful, you can still take advantage of the Walkway Over the Hudson, which is delightful, you just may need to make some adjustments to your experience.

With winter weather arriving here in the Hudson Valley, there are certain services and amenities at the Walkway Over the Hudson that are seasonal, so plan accordingly.

As temperatures have dropped into the 30s, and even 20s the past few days, the Walkway Over the Hudson has announced that a number of amenities have ended operation for the season, mainly due to the temps.

The waterfront elevator at Upper Landing Park (Poughkeepsie side), electric tram, and the merchandise and information pavilions are now closed for the season.

The elevator typically runs from 9am until 90 minutes prior to the closing of the walkway. In response to the notification of the elevator specifically, visitors had questions as to why, with the Walkway responding:

Unfortunately, with the elevator components being housed completely outside and exposed to the elements, combined with less visitation in the winter months, it's unfortunately not feasible to keep the elevator open year round.

The Walkway Over the Hudson operates 365-days a year, with scheduled hours for the remainder of 2024 set as 7am until 5pm. They do advise that 'normal' operating hours can change in accordance with the weather.

On either side of the Walkway, Ulster and Dutchess, the indoor restrooms at the Welcome Centers do remain open during the colder months, and the covered outdoor seating near both gates/entrances is also open and accessible.
