Halloween Game To Resolve Burning Series Questions In Its Story Mode

In about a year, horror fans will be able to play the third official Halloween video game based on the hit 1978 film, after 1983's Halloween for the Atari 2600 and 2024's RetroRealms: Halloween with Illfonic's upcoming Halloween.

The iconic mask of Michael Myers has appeared in several video games before, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, but he's never appeared in a game that truly captures the atmosphere and suspense of John Carpenter's classic film until Illfonic began development on Halloween.

Illfonic is no stranger to adapting beloved horror franchises into video games, as it previously developed Friday the 13th: The Game, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, and Halloween will continue its tradition of delivering fun asymmetrical multiplayer games.

However, Halloween will be different from the aforementioned titles as it will also feature a dedicated single-player story mode that will expand on events surrounding the 1978 film and answer some burning questions and plot holes fans have long debated about for decades.

New Details on Halloween's Story Mode

On 2025's Halloween day, Illfonic released a brief press release going over the single-player story mode of Halloween and how players will be able to explore 1978 Haddonfield, Illonois as Myers.

The story mode will have players begin the game during Myers' escape from Smith's Grove Sanitarium, and it will have players witness how The Shape escaped the facility and journey to Phelps Garage.

Here, as well as at other famous locations from the 1978 Halloween film, players will be able to relive iconic murderous scenes from the movie with some familiar faces in addition to brand-new scenes with characters original to the game.

These story sequences will be introduced with in-engine cinematics and be narrated by the famous Dr. Samuel J. Loomis as players discover events that happened in-between scenes from the film, such as how exactly the truck Myers stole ended up abandoned on the side of the road.

Besides expanding upon the story of the night Michael Myers returned to his Haddonfield home, the story mode will feature several difficulty options, optional objectives, collectibles, and multiple endings determined by actions players make during Myers massacre.
