VACAVILLE -- The discussion on raising water rates returns to the City Council on Tuesday.
The city's Utilities Department presented two revenue adjustment options at the Feb. 25 council meeting. Council members chose the option prepared by the city's consultant, Willdan Financial.
At Tuesday's meeting, the council is expected to take action initiating a Proposition 218 election process, which requires the city to notify property owners and system users of proposed changes to property-related fees.
If the council adopts the Proposition 218 process, the city will offer community information sessions and an estimated bill impact calculator with the proposed rate adjustments.
Residents will then have the option to accept or reject the offer. A majority against the proposal is needed to stop it.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 650 Merchant St. It can also be viewed online at at cityofvacaville.gov/agendas and YouTube @CityofVacaville, on Comcast channel 26 and AT&T 99.
