FAIRFIELD -- Vanden High School senior Calonni Holloway and junior Chriseanie Nealy were named Most Valuable Players for their respective basketball teams in the Monticello Empire League.
Holloway averaged 13.9 points per game, 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Nealy averaged 10.6 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. The Vanden girls and boys won MEL titles with 12-0 records.
Senior La'Miracle Lebon and sophomore Makayla Smith joined Holloway on the first-team for Vanden. Senior Mia Marquez of Rodriguez also earned selection.
Vacaville junior Lula Kifle and Will C. Wood's Amiyah Murry were named first-team. Peyton Thorn of Pioneer, La'Ne Dunn of Sacramento and River City's Marina Bahrami and Neveah Jordan were also selected.
Vanden junior James Carraway, junior Nate Hibbert and senior Isiah Dixon joined Nealy on the first-team for the MEL boys. Junior Jermaine Missouri, senior Jamar Missouri and junior Mason Adimora were selected for Rodriguez.
Sacramento had three selections in SirMarius Jones, Devon Watts and Shawn Underwood.
