Christmas miracle? Expectant sheep gives birth in a live nativity display

LOCKLAND, Ohio (WXIX) - An expectant sheep delivers twins on Christmas Eve in a Lockland nativity display.

The live nativity scene in Lockland is a tradition for many people in Lockland.

This year, one sheep was expecting more than just visitors.

On Christmas Eve, in a display recreating the birth of Jesus Christ, she gave birth to twins.

People in town have been flocking to the display like... sheep.

"They're adorable," says attendee Cory Estes. "They're little. I didn't think they were that little. I don't know. I thought they'd be a little bit bigger than that"

The lambs seem to be in good shape, and the owner has asked folks to give them some space.

"They're super cute, I love them, and I really want to take them home, but I can't," says Sydney Horning.

To make sure no one steals the miracle sheep, police officers say they're checking in every few hours to make sure they're doing okay.

Visitors who have traveled from afar to witness the birth (of the sheep) say they always like seeing the animals, so this is just a nice surprise.

While this birth may not spark a religion, it's a nice reminder of the season.

The mother sheep and her offspring will still be at the nativity display until Thursday, Dec. 26 when the farmer returns to take them home.
