Katie Price's Sussex Mucky Mansion sells for less than she paid 10 years ago

Katie Price has sold her famous 'Mucky Mansion' for less than the original purchase price from a decade ago, despite generally soaring property values. The reality TV star had bought the home for £1.35 million and initially listed it for £1.5 million, but after the first sale fell through, she had to drop the asking price by £150,000.

Finally, with the latest drop to £1.15 million, Katie secured a sale, as confirmed by a Rightmove notice stating: "Mortgagees in possession are now in receipt of an offer for the sum of £1,150,000."

Katie, however, won't profit from this sale as she no longer owns the house; the 46 year old was legally forced out in May following her second bankruptcy declaration in March over unpaid taxes. She had owned the nine-bedroom mansion, previously purchased from Conservative politician Francis Maude in 2014, and lived there until failing to keep up mortgage payments.

Her debts against the Sussex property include a reported £750,000 owed to the taxman, and any revenue from the sale is expected to cover these arrears. This lavish estate, spanning 12 acres and featured in her TV show, is a symbol of both Katie's past glories and troubles.

After Katie's departure, the estate was left in a severely dilapidated state with wild overgrowth. The swimming pool morphed into a murky green abyss, and cleaners were faced with the daunting task of removing mountains of trash and abandoned vehicles to prepare the property for the market, reports the Mirror.

The mansion underwent an astounding makeover in July, rendering it unrecognisable from the dishevelled state it was left in under Katie's tenure. Originally dubbed the "Mucky Mansion" due to its state of decay, it has long been a thorn in Katie's side.

She openly expressed her antipathy, saying: "I absolutely hate the Mucky Mansion, even how it's been called the Mucky Mansion because of all the stuff that happened there before."

Princess Andre, Katie's daughter, has also been vocal about her aversion to the once-shambolic home. On the programme, the teenager revealed: "I didn't really like this house at the start. It was a dark house. There were just so many bad memories in it. I didn't even want to walk on the driveway."

The reality show focused on Katie's ambition to turn her 19-room, vandal-ravaged wreck of a mansion into a loving family abode. Despite lasting for two series, the show came to a halt amidst Katie's ongoing financial woes.
