A Raytown police officer shot a suspect to death during an investigation into a bomb threat early Saturday morning.Missouri Highway Patrol troopers say that Raytown police received reports that a person who had gotten in a fight with a security guard at the QuikTrip on 63rd Street near Blue Ridge Cutoff had claimed they had explosives and guns in their car, which was sitting in the parking lot.Officers arrived at the gas station to investigate at around 12:16 a.m. By then, the suspect had walked somewhere else. Raytown officers called in assistance from the Kansas City Missouri Police Department's Bomb Squad and began evacuating the area.Before the bomb squad could arrive, the suspect returned to the scene. Troopers say officers gave commands to the suspect, but the suspect tried to get into their car. That's when an officer shot the suspect.The suspect died at the hospital.Troopers say the KCPD bomb squad found explosive material in the suspect's car when they searched it.
